About That Golf Project

That Golf Project researches the clubs that the top player's choose to put in their bag. Some other sites also do this to a degree, but they generally only list basic model info - we look a little deeper into the actual specs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which players are featured on your site?

We're primarily focused on the current top ranked professional players but will also include notable players. Tiger for example has dropped considerably down the rankings due to injuries and lack of play, but he's a legend so he'll always be included. Other legendary players have retired or sadly passed away, but if we can obtain club info from back in the day we will also include them. There's a couple of easter eggs around the site too.

Hey, I'm a top player, where's my bag?

We simply haven't got around to adding you yet. Help us out and send us your witb info!

Can I submit a request for a player to be added?

Contact us, we'll bump that player up the list!

How accurate is your data?

We endeavor to be as accurate as possible, but keeping up to date with all the players is a continuous process! Some players are still rocking clubs from a decade ago, while others tweak setups every week, often tailoring set compositions for playing conditions. I.e. they may change wedge bounces, higher bounce when soft, lower bounce when firm etc. Or may switch between long irons and hybrids.

Note: Each WITB page shows the date that each bag was last updated.

Who are your sources?

We're outside the ropes looking in, so we rely heavily on other websites, tour articles, player socials etc. However, we cross-check as many sources as we can for accuracy and inconsistencies, verify with images and tournament coverage, and generally perform some old good ol' fashioned detective work where needed.

Note: Each WITB page cites any sources used to research that set, but just because a source is listed does not mean all info contained in that source was used - a source may have only been partially used for info on a particular club, or to verify the details of a club/set in use.

What about manufacturer blogs?

We use those too, but with a pinch of salt as they say. Sometimes manufacturer posts can be a little skewed, they don't necessarily want to highlight that a player prefers the old model of a club when they're trying to sell the latest one.

Also, a company may advertise the what's in the bag info for a player under contract, and be considered the primary source for a player on this site. However, it's not unusual for a player to be under a ‘12 club’ contract. This allows the player to potentially use a couple of clubs from a competitor, such as a putter they've used their whole career etc. In this case, it's unlikely the company would want to advertise any competitor's clubs used, so will typically just omit those particular clubs when quoting the player's bag. To fill in these gaps and complete the set, other source(s) will also be used.
